HMRC launches new Fraud Hotline
Members of the public play an important role in helping HMRC clamp down on tax fraud and tax evasion.
HMRC has just made it easier to report suspected fraud by launching a hotline which is open seven days a week from 8 am until 8 pm, 365 days a year.
The hotline may be used to report a range of tax fraud and evasion, including
- PAYE fraud
- National Insurance fraud
- Offshore investments which are undisclosed
- Tax credit fraud
- Failure to pay UK duty
- Tax evasion
- VAT fraud
The Fraud Hotline is free to contact and simple to use. The number is
0800 788 887
HMRC anticipates that the new Hotline will enable members of the public to report fraud easily and quickly. By increasing the number of investigations into suspected tax fraud and tax evasion, the effect will be to increase the money coming into the exchequer which will benefit the country overall.
